Spoelberchplein is the first realization scheme in our master plan of Machelen-Diegem. The square locates in the housing area, where it should function as an amenity core of the neighborhood as well as a casual roundabout.

For a pleasant atmosphere, this neighborhood square provides a unified green park with a shared space of grainy red bricks, so that kids, pedestrians, and bikers can enjoy and acknowledge it as a unique part of the neighborhood

The square avoids hard separation between narrow pedestrian walks and asphalt car lanes. Instead, it aims for generous paths that run in a cozy park: cars and pedestrians share the same surface that is defined by winding curves of the rich greenery. In addition, the area is slightly raised to slow down cars.
