Due to the unique architecture of this residence, light, transparency and continued spatial flow was vital. Privacy was also a concern since zoning required a high level of transparency amidst the dense urban condition. The solution was to create exterior spaces that seamlessly interact with the interior, blurring the boundaries through thoughtful details. The front gate explores the latent potentials hidden within the vertical rhythm of the vernacular urban streetscape. Rotating blades of core-ten maintain transparency while deftly providing privacy and elegance. Custom benches complement geometric vegetated mounds that aid as artistic space-makers. Currently under construction, this house incorporates sustainable systems with planted green roofs, a cistern for storm water catchment, and passive solar techniques.
