Challenges: oppressive sun; extreme winds and lots of undefined “grey” space.
Solutions: Break the space up into individually defined spaces (lounge, dining, play lawn and utilities). Add color by way of hardy, perennial, container plantings. Include irrigation systems for all plantings. Install large sturdy wind resistant umbrellas over the main seating areas. Break the monotonous look of the grey tile up by using artificial grass, outdoor rugs and a platform deck with inset deck lights.
