The only requirement was quiet observation of the moods, light, and color of the landscape. The house, sited to capture expansive views of the river and sky, rests lightly on the land and was designed to blur the boundary between inside and out. The landscape, in a continuing process of development, began as editing, complemented with small insertions to achieve spatial clarity. A network of paths is mown through meadows to reach points of botanical and topographical interest around the property.
