Park Brialmont has a central position in the district of Berchem, but it also has a suburban

character: it lies on both sides of the ring road and the train, it is fragmented and it is surrounded by allotments gardens. To create a good neighborhood and a central park for the residents of Berchem, it must create a strong connection with its residents to enclose itself into their hearts.

This connection may result in a park that is clean, quite and safe, that attracts various target groups, and that creates possibilities to give an active role to the residents, by participating in the planning, construction, management, and organization of events. A physical condition is that the park is easily accessible, recognizable and has a good path structure that meets the needs of the users.

There can be no question of a heart as long as the connection between the two halves – the heart’s chambers – is not strong, and as a connecting element itself is not part of the Park.
