Tom III

The sculpture garden flanking Avenue du Musée has become a renewed pedestrian space for the summer season of 2014.

For this the third edition, more than 10,000 TOMs (Temporary Overlay Markers) are attached to the asphalt surface to invoke the precious ornamented works of famed jeweller-artist Fabergé, which will be exhibited at the Museum over the summer. Installed back-to-back, the dynamic bi-directionality of the TOMs is invoked through the movement of the viewer to become a rhythmic explosion of chromatic contrast and pattern.

This intriguing game of visual perception unifies the sculpture garden on both sides of the street, and lures visitors from bottom to top and back down again. These two distinct experiences continually merge and detach through movement, seizing an illusion that becomes physical across the distance of the garden.
