The Galleria at Sunset renovates an existing mall with the addition of a new exterior dining and entertainment district linked by a series of plazas and landscape promenades. Using unconventional forms and patterns abstracted from the desert landscape, SWA was able to solve multiple client issues: hidden retail entries, disjointed architecture and plaza spaces, and a general lack of identity. Paving that abstracts the cobble bottom of a dry wash subtly leads users to retail entries. Shapes abstracted from the desert canyons link architecture and plazas together.
